...:::...can light be without shadow? (like letting the letter 'q' be written down in a word without a 'u' following...). does light turn into form as you take darkness away from an empty field?

i return again to reduction. to making through subtraction. i scratch my intention into a lightless place...pin-prick moments of clarity into a shadowy plane and slowly render meaning. form emerges (hello! sunshine)...

and maybe music is like that, too. where if you rub a little quiet (a light-filled eraser) into the cacophony of your daily sounds (a murky dark), that a rhythmic sound will begin to play...just maybe if you listen hard enough, sounds will take on value. like a million shades of gray, and cast note-filled shadows where your steps fall...:::...
